Wristband as a Mental Anchor

By October 17, 2018Depression
Wrist with multiple different types of wristbands on, one says Inspire and one says Courage
I wear many accoutrements as a means of expressing myself. One thing in particular, though, holds great significance for me. For my birthday a few months ago my sister gave me a leather wristband with the word “courage” on it. It’s a constant reminder for myself to have courage in the face of adversity, be that adversity from without or within. Depression is a different beast for every person, set off by any number of things. Even something as simple as a comment chance overheard. When I feel a wave of depression coming, I use this wristband as a sort of mental anchor to keep myself grounded. Keeping on takes courage, and if not hope for the future, at least a simple curiosity as to what the future may hold. We humans are a resilient people, and the vast stores of courage you have may surprise you!
